All faculty teaching online or hybrid classes are encouraged to sign up for a free Quality Matters account at www.quailitymatters.org . DSC instructors can conduct a free course evaluation on the Quality Matters website. This free ‘Self-Review” includes standards that should be included in every online or hybrid class. Improving Student Retention with Intelligent Agents and the Awards Tool

The Intelligent Agents tool and the Awards tool are two features in GeorgiaVIEW that can improve student retention and keep your students on task and excited about learning. Intelligent Agents, located in GeorgiaVIEW under Course Admin, contain tools an instructor can use to automatically notify a student if they have fallen behind or missed a deadline. The first short video below details how to use Intelligent Agents for your class. Another effective method of keeping your students engaged in your course is the Awards tool, also located in GeorgiaVIEW under Course Admin. The Awards tool can be used to automatically award your students a badge or certificate when they meet a predetermined condition set by the instructor. A grade on a test, perfect attendance, completion of a video tutorial are just a few examples of tasks a student can complete to automatically receive a badge or certificate.  The second video shows how you can use the Awards tool in your class.

Accessibility

Accessibility

All DSC faculty should now have at least one accessible syllabus for fall semester and should be using the accessible syllabus template for guidance. Section 508 also requires that all faculty use captions when showing videos. This fall we will be offering workshops on how to find captioned videos and how to create captions for videos that do not have captions. You can view our fall workshops at the Instructional Technology Libguide at http://libguides.daltonstate.edu/technology
